The YMCA of the Northwoods provides a wide range of youth sports opportunities aimed at developing fundamental skills, promoting healthy lifestyles, and fostering sportsmanship. From basketball and soccer to archery and pickleball, our programs cater to different age groups and interests, ensuring every child can find an activity they enjoy. Explore our offerings below to find the perfect fit for your child.

Our Youth Sports Programs

3 v 3 Basketball League

Play a fun recreational game of 3v3 basketball. Each team will play two (20-minute) games each week. Games follow modified WIAA rules and are officiated. Officials’ judgments are final; arguing results in ejection. Register individually or select teammates (teams of 3-6). Coaches not provided/required. Age brackets: 3rd-6th, 6th-8th, High School, Adult.

Youth Basketball

Learn the game of basketball from the place that invented it. The Y teaches basics weekly with skills and scrimmage time, focusing on fun and development.

Indoor Soccer

The Y teaches soccer basics (passing, scoring, defense, positioning) in the Winter season. Includes weekly scrimmage time. Normal gym shoes needed; shin guards optional.

Youth Pickleball

Learn the fastest-growing sport in America. We explain rules and scoring, creating opportunities to play pickleball with other middle school students. A great social sport to make new friends!

Homeschool Y PE

Participants gain knowledge and skills for various sports and activities, developing coordination, throwing, swinging, and speed. Fosters an encouraging environment focusing on sportsmanship and teamwork. Encourages an active, healthy lifestyle.

Preschool Sports

Fun class for preschool-aged children (Ages 3-6) to burn energy and play. Focuses on teamwork and learning basics of multiple sports. Parents welcome to participate.

Kids Move

Children dance and exercise to rockin’ CLEAN tunes, create their own moves, and collaboratively choreograph a song. A great creative time for moving, learning, teaching, and laughing!

Kickball

A fun game combining baseball skills with kicking. Learn baserunning, catching, and fielding. An interactive way to meet new friends.
