Important Gymnastics Program Update
FOR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT®
FOR HEALTHY LIVING
FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Dear Gymnasts and Families,
I want to introduce myself, my name is Kristina Aschenbrenner, and I am a gymnastics coach here at the YMCA, coaching the pre-competitive and competitive programs. I also coach the middle school and high school gymnastics teams. I truly believe in gymnastics and am thrilled to help build gymnastics in Rhinelander.
We are SO excited for our new gymnastics facility to be finished! This facility will allow our gymnastics program to grow and provide opportunities to do things we haven’t been able to do before. Our goal is to build gymnastics in Rhinelander by having a year-round gymnastics program with consistent programming and coaching. Our vision won’t be realized overnight, but with continued support we can get there. One of our big challenges is in securing coaches. This isn’t unique to gymnastics, but a greater challenge due to fewer people being familiar with the sport. If anyone has experience or is willing to learn how to teach gymnastics, we would love to hear from you.
We have implemented many changes to include the different levels and testing. Our new programs are Intro I and Intro II, Flippers, Twisters, Pre-competitive and Competitive. We explain each level in more detail on our website. Our evaluation system has also changed. Evaluations will be conducted by the lead gymnastics instructor, currently myself, a few times a year, outside of normal classes. All classes, except Intro I and II, will require a skill evaluation prior to registration. You can sign up for one of the skill evaluation dates at the front desk. If you are interested in pre-competitive or competitive programs, please let us know at testing.
Skill evaluations dates are:
- Sat, Sept 30th: 9:00-10:00 a.m. or 10:00-11:00 a.m.
- Wed, Oct. 4th: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Additional dates can be arranged by contacting Matt Steingraber, Youth Sports Director, at [email protected].
An OPEN HOUSE for our new facility will be scheduled once we have confirmed the date that the equipment will be set up. Gymnasts and parents will be able to come see the new facility, meet coaches, participate in a leotard sale, and hopefully try out some of the fun equipment. Watch for flyers with specific information for that day.
I am available if you have any questions. The best way to get a hold of me is by email. I work full-time for Nicolet College, coaching in the evenings. I can be reached at [email protected].
Thanks,
Coach Kristina Aschenbrenner
